PhD in Urban & Regional Planning, Maddalena Rossi is an expert in interactive planning and design and conflict mediation. She has worked for Avventura Urbana since 2008, and she coordinates the Tuscan headquarters of the company.
She specialized on the community-based management of natural resources through the “Master in Progettazione e gestione di processi partecipativi (MaP3)” (Master in Planning and Management of Participatory Processes) promoted by a coordination of Universities and Tuscan Research Institutes.
Throughout the years, she has conducted and curated multiple strategic and urban planning processes for several Italian cities (the most recent ones include the Metropolitan City of Florence, and the cities of Siena, Florence and Livorno), and she managed conflicts mediation projects in the public and private sector, related to the realization of infrastructures of general interest (these include the new stadium of the City of Empoli, the Bologna junction, the motorway system of Lucca). In addition, she offers her consultancy to companies and foundations for the development and management of the Stakeholder Engagement processes.
She conducted periods of training and research in Algeria and Western Sahara, developing participatory processes for micro-projects of local development and the promotion of self-building in territories characterized by armed conflicts and refugee camps.
She has published several articles on participatory planning, conflict mediation and support to self-organization initiatives led by local communities.
