Débat public on the “Gronda di Genova”

The Débat Public of Genoa was the first case of débat public applied to a big public work in Italy.

In 2009 the City of Genoa, Autostrade per l’Italia, and Anas, entrusted an independent Commission chaired by Professor Luigi Bobbio to organize a débat public for the realization of a new highway route crossing the area of Genoa: the so-called “Gronda di Genova”.

Avventura Urbana was in charge of supporting the Commission, developing and managing the communication campaign related to the project. The dialogue lasted three months, by the end of which the Commission delivered a final report to the City of Genoa. Starting from the five different alternatives originally identified, the report was used by Autostrade per l’Italia to finally design the highway route, which has significantly lower negative impacts.
