Participatory Budgeting of Milan

Participatory Budgeting allows to involve citizens during the municipal budget preparation process, so they can contribute collectively to define the use of public resources.

After implementing the instrument for the first time in the City of Turin, in 2015 Avventura Urbana and other partners were assigned the task of designing and managing the Participatory Budgeting of the City of Milan. The process, realized by the nine districts of the city to discuss interventions worth a total amount of 9 million euros, lasted approximately one year and attracted many citizens. It was concluded with an online poll in which more than 30.000 people took part.
