URBAN REGENERATION AND TRANSFORMATION | PROJECTS

Suburbs Project of the City of Turin

Avventura Urbana started working on suburbs regeneration in 1996, with a project in the neighborhood of Arquata Street (Turin) that was characterized by a high level of urban and social degradation.

Through a multi-phased work realized with the inhabitants of the neighborhood, Avventura Urbana contributed to the elaboration of a “Neighborhood Contract”, which was subsequently approved by the Ministry of Public Works. By the end of the ‘90s, the work continued with the Plan of Social Support for the Urban Recovery Program of Corso Grosseto, which allowed to identify shared rules for cohabitating in council houses.

These kind of regeneration projects have been integrated in the Suburbs Project of the City of Turin, for which Iolanda Romano (founding member of Avventura Urbana) participated for seven years as an expert in participation and public communication.
