States General on Sustainable Tourism (MIBACT)

In 2015, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) commissioned Avventura Urbana to design and implement the States General on Sustainable Tourism, a three-day participatory event held at the National Railway Museum of the State Railways Foundation in Pietrarsa (Naples).

The event was widely attended by representatives from various sector associations, and involved discussion of topics proposed by seven experts:

• cultural heritage as a factor in sustainable development in tourism;
• the sustainability of destinations;
• the new travel economy;
• regional promotion;
• mobility and intermodality;
• smart innovation and new professions.

Six final reports were produced at the end of the participatory event, which formed the basis of the Pietrarsa Charter on Sustainable Tourism.
