Territorial planning
Our service brings together the main statutory instruments for land-use and mobility planning — the General Regulatory Plan (PRG), Municipal Planning Instruments (PUC), Territorial Government Plans (PGT), Structural Plans and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP) — with participatory processes designed to produce shared, sustainable solutions.
The participatory territorial planning approach we propose is not only a way to improve the development of an area, but also a route to stronger social cohesion and a greater sense of belonging to the community.
The benefits of our approach to planning are:
- active involvement: every stage, from the analysis of the area to the drafting of the plan itself, is built on public meetings, workshops and digital mapping tools that make it easier for citizens to take part;
- democratic and transparent decisions: planning choices are not imposed from above but shared with the community, ensuring transparency and greater legitimacy;
- sustainable development: through a participatory approach and the use of planning instruments, we ensure balanced urban growth that takes environmental, economic and social needs into account.
Gender-sensitive urban planning
The way cities are organised shapes how we live our daily lives and how we behave. By applying a gender perspective to urban planning, our aim is to create public spaces that are inclusive, safe and accessible for everyone: for women, but also for children, disabled people, older people and any other community that needs to be involved so that it can be included. Our way of working takes different needs into account, making sure that every urban space is designed to fit people and improve their quality of life.
What our service sets out to do
- inclusiveness: we provide guidelines to steer planning towards greater inclusiveness;
- safety and accessibility: we create the conditions for urban areas to be safer and more accessible, with particular attention to women and minorities.
On these themes we work with Sex and the City Milano, authors of the Milano Gender Atlas, the first gender atlas produced in Italy. We offer joint support that combines the methods of urban and gender studies with the tools of participatory processes.
